Taking care of your costume!

TO WASH OR NOT TO WASH

Never wash your costume!

Okay, now that we said it, actually some costumes are okay to hand wash.

If you must clean your costume, DO NOT put it in a machine of any kind

HAND WASH ONLY in cold water & always LINE DRY.

Don’t leave the costume sitting in the water unattended.

DIP, DIP, HANG 🙂

PERFORMANCE READY

Keep covered in a garment bag

Steam costume prior to showtime (NO IRON)

Keep the steamer away from appliqués and sequins.

No eating in costume

AVOID wearing perfumes, lotions, and tanning lotions.

CLEAR deodorant only

OFF STAGE

ALWAYS keep costumes hung up between rehearsals, performances, and competitions.

Keep out of reach of little ones and pets. (Cats and puppies love tulle…Yikes!)

Costumes are not replaceable!

TIPS FOR STAINS

Carry a pack of baby wipes for quick fixes like lipstick or makeup stains

Fels-Naptha laundry soap also helps remove stains.

Spot clean first
