A senior production
After dozens of shows on stage, our graduating seniors are stepping to the other side of the curtain.
Taking Flight is produced, choreographed and created entirely by our grad seniors, from the first idea to the final bow. Their choreography comes to life on stage through our Senior Crew and Company dancers. It is a rare chance to see what these artists create when the show is theirs to build.
Behind the scenes
What it takes to build a show
Taking Flight is the premiere of our Company graduating seniors’ work on stage. Every piece starts with a senior and an idea. From there, they bring it to life themselves.
Choreography
Each senior creates their very own original work, start to finish.
Casting
They select their own cast from their fellow dancers.
Rehearsals
They run their own rehearsals and lead their dancers all the way to the stage.
Music editing
They learn to cut and edit the music that drives each piece.
Costumes
They select the costumes that give each piece its look.
Lighting design
They learn how lighting shapes every moment on stage.
