Why

Self Confidence

The arts help young people to think outside the box and be more confident going into unfamiliar situations. Students learn to trust their ideas and abilities. The confidence they gain from learning performing arts skills applies to their performance in school, career, and life.

Imagination

Being creative and learning to make creative choices helps students become better at thinking of new ideas. This allows them to view the world around them in new ways. Even Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

Concentration

Practicing and performing helps children develop the skills necessary to focus both their minds and body. Memorizing steps is a learned skill and a direct reflection of the dancer’s ability to concentrate and focus.

Communication

The performing arts improve both verbal and nonverbal communication that can follow young people through their lives. It improves team communication, self-expression and also develops listening and observation skills.

Memory

Rehearsing and performing movements will improve memory. Your memory requires exercise, just like a muscle.

Fun

Dance brings play, humor, laughter, and joy to those taking part. It improves motivation and reduces stress.

Physical Fitness

Performing requires intensive movement over a prolonged period. Many performing arts exercises improve flexibility, coordination, balance, and control.

Emotional Outlet

Performing Arts allows students to express a range of emotions and encourages them to understand and deal with any similar feelings they may be experiencing. Aggression and tension are released in a safe, controlled environment, often allowing for a period of reflection afterward. And finally…

Appreciation for arts and culture!
